“A Guide to Portfolio Design” covers both elements of design and their practical applications. The author, Yoshiki Iida, breaks down complex concepts using easy-to-digest explanations and discusses the concepts and logic behind portfolio design.
Cover Design
The book cover features imagery from the portfolio design process. The coated paper cover combines local light elements and silver text in line with professional-style design. The cover page has a portion that reveals the silver title page beneath, reinforcing the cover text with a demonstration.
Interior Page Design
The chapters are color coded, with each chapter title page being a full-page of the corresponding color. The interviews use soft-grain textured paper to distinguish itself from the rest of the book, recreating the relaxed atmosphere of an interview.
Bonus Goods Design
A three-color textured image was created with just one ink and one coating. The deep, rich coffee-colored ink was printed on kraft paper while screen printing selectively applied the reflective coating to impart texture and a misty effect.
